Charlestown Cornwall
Surrounded by beautiful Cornish countryside, Seagull Cottage is only a minutes walk away from the main harbour which is alive with eateries & watering holes, shops, The Shipwreck Museum and of course, Charlestown beach. Charlestown is often associated with its role in the filming of various movies and TV shows, including Poldark, due to its well-preserved waterfront and 18th-century atmosphere.
Seagull cottage is approached by a private driveway which leads to Polmear Farm and where allocated parking is available, including EV charger. It is a mid-terrace barn with 3ft thick exposed granite and cob walls making it very sound proof. Upon entering, guests are greeted by an open plan living area with vaulted ceiling, oozing character and warmth, creating a home from home feeling making it the perfect getaway. The living area consists of a newly built fully equipped kitchen, dining and lounge area. A corridor leads off the lounge to the main bathroom which has a bath and large walk-in shower. Also on the ground floor is a twin bedroom plus a king bedroom with an en-suite shower room. A further spacious twin bedroom is accessed by stairs that lead from the living room up to a mezzanine snug area. The bedroom itself is large and has its original beams, low windows and skylights. Outside the front of Seagull Cottage is a lawn area and a private garden seating area with dining furniture, parasol and BBQ – perfect for alfresco dining on a Summer’s evening.
Charlestown is steeped in history, a World Heritage site and is also part of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). Even better, Seagull Cottage is only a minutes walk from this famous and picturesque harbour which has been used in many TV shows and films, including Poldark. It is surrounded by coffee & gift shops, eateries & watering holes and Charlestown beach. There are nearby coastal walks with stunning views over the sea, cliffs and nearby beaches such as Porthpean and Carloyn Bay where there are many watersport activities on offer. For the even more energetic, Carloyn Bay golf club is nearby too. A short drive from Charlestown is the Eden Project which is a world-renowned eco-tourism destination with biomes housing a vast variety of plant species. It is also here that events and renowned musicians play in concert.
